Enspry provides automated test services to Cisco starting from 2006. Due to our close and extensive working relationship with Cisco development teams, we are intimately familiar with Cisco technologies, product development, testing and quality processes. We developed many tools, including an analytics tool, to track and analyze our automated test service performance for Cisco.

Challenge

Cisco has many Ethernet switches in their portfolio. To enhance their switches’ functionalities, Cisco IOS software must be updated and released frequently. Before releasing the IOS software, extensive testings must be done on the Cisco IOS software. Enspry performs automated regression testings on Cisco IOS software to make sure that Cisco always ships high quality products.

Development Environment

  • Geographically distributed teams in the United States, China, India, and Thailand
  • Cisco in-house automation testing framework written in Tcl, a powerful and popular test automation scripting language, and Fanfare’s iTest
  • Cisco in-house test execution engine and reports
  • Testbeds with hundreds of networking devices, Linux servers, and traffic generators (Ixia and Spirent)

What We Do

  • Current Projects
    • Designing and developing automated test scripts to uncover functionality defects in new releases of Cisco core software for their best-selling enterprise switch products.
    • Designing and developing automated test scripts to certify 3rd party companies who want to certify the interoperability of their Cisco EnergyWise compatible products.
    • Performing failure analyses on automated test executions and coordinating with Cisco software engineers to facilitate the resolution of the test failures.
  • Past Projects
    • Designed and developed automated test scripts to ensure the quality of Cisco Wireless Controller System, a web-based wireless network management platform.

Results

Enspry has established long term partnership with Cisco since 2006. About 2000+ Tcl test scripts in 100+ test plans have been released to Cisco so far. Thousands of bugs have been found and reported to Cisco each year. We also develop innovative tools to help our offshore operation run smoothly.
